Travel Diaries - Bulgaria

The 3rd stop is the beautiful Bulgaria - it is filled with beautiful architecture, sweltering heat and rich food (they really do love cream and cheese in most of their dishes). I travelled with Sharla, Ankitha and Winnie to Sofia (the capital) and to Plovdiv (2nd largest city). Sofia has all the resources and is the most built up

I learnt that Bulgaria has a very perplex history; they have been taken over by so many countries that they have lost a sense of culture. Due to this, there is a mixture of cultural difference in terms of infrastructure. They have western european, eastern european and asian influence within the country, which explains why there are Arabic mosques, Catholic churches and Greek amphitheatres all in one city.

The transport links are very limited unless you are in the capital Sofia, most people travel by car or by taxi. In fact, life in Bulgaria is very simple, there is less emphasis on technology and it was great to escape to a country where people aren't constantly on their phones.

I decided not to edit the layout this time - sometimes you have just got to enjoy the photos are they are.

Thank for reading.
