Summer Escape to Sardinia

I have just returned from one of the best islands in the world. The island is surrounded by mountainous terrain and is outlined by endless breathtaking beaches. I stayed in San Teodoro which is only 20 minutes by bus from the main city Olbia.

What surprised me was that the locals were pleasantly nice. They helped me and my friends  when we didn't quite understand Italian. Taxi drivers would show us local restaurants and help book our excursions for no extra cost. Chivalrous waiters would hold our bags and recommend places for us to go to.

Perhaps I'm too use to the British etiquette...people are definitely nicer over there. However, we did get a lot of stares because it seemed we were the only British/Asian tourists in that area. It was like the locals have never seen a Chinese girl before.

 Battling my fear of heights.

Gelato's are more smoother and lighter than icecream in the UK.

The best way to go through Sardinia is by car of taxi, however you will need to be 21 in order to hire and drive a car. I was really gutted that I couldn't hire a car but then I would have got lost anyways.

Sardinia is an untouched place, where everything is so natural and the island is not inhibited by floods of tourists. If you are planning to go, I would recommend learning some italian, the locals hardly speak any english so you will be lucky to find someone who does. Also, be aware of siesta and bring lots of sunscreen.

I also filmed a vlog whilst on my trip, check it out:
